Hotel Campestre La Montaña

We liked the restaurant food: good portions, well seasoned, and priced like other places nearby. Even the minibar items, like water and chips, cost about the same as at a corner shop. The staff’s service really impressed us. When something needed fixing, they took care of it right away and were cheerful about it. We visited twice in one week. The hotel sits on a hill just off the main highway, close enough to be convenient but far enough that traffic noise is light. Rooms are above the pool, spa, and restaurant. The lower-level rooms aren’t as nice, but they have air conditioning. Upstairs rooms are much nicer, with high wooden ceilings and a balcony, though no air conditioning. At night the breeze and fans were fine. There were no mosquitoes and few bugs, so open windows and balcony time were enjoyable. Some people, us included, may find the beds too hard, but the staff quickly swapped our mattresses for softer ones. The pool was clean and pretty; the hot tub wasn’t warm enough for us. As seasoned budget travelers, we’re hard to impress, but they did a good job and didn’t take advantage of their guests like many hotels do.

The beds were really hard, which was the one real drawback. Otherwise, the location was good, the staff helpful, and the food was good.

We had a great time overall. The restaurant servers sometimes forgot things, and the pool water didn’t seem to be maintained the way pool water should be.

The pool is fantastic, and the location is excellent. The service was great too. I’d recommend this place to anyone.
