Reserva Natural El Encanto de Guanapalo

The food was great, and the bed was comfortable. We booked the two-night safari and really enjoyed the whole trip. The program had a lovely balance of activities and time to relax, and our two guides were great. Santiago knew a lot about nature and animals, translated what the other people said, and looked after us to make sure we were doing well. His service was excellent. 😍

We did a horse ride, jeep safari, a few short walks, and even a little cooking during our two-night tour with a friend. Hato Altamira was a lovely place to stay, full of birds, parrots, cattle, dogs, and more. Our guides, Miller and Gustavo, who spoke English, were both great. Everything was excellent, and the food was amazing. I really recommend it!

We saw plenty of wildlife, including capybaras, babillas (small caiman), a big anteater, and lots of birds, along with beautiful scenery. Our local guide was lovely and helpful, and knew the region inside out. The daytime outings included hiking, horseback riding, and a jeep safari. We spent three nights at El Encanto de Guanapalo, staying at a different Hato each night, and every one was beautiful. They feel like authentic Hato's, with cattle and farm animals, while the rooms are comfortable like hotel rooms, with nice beds, private bathrooms, and private terraces for relaxing. The staff were very nice, and both the food and service were great. Getting there was easy too: it's a comfortable two-hour drive from Yopal on a flat, paved road.

One thing I especially loved was how the experience brings together wildlife and nature with traditional farms and livestock. It felt authentic and unique, and the service was excellent. We did the “plan travesía,” staying at three different hatos, one per night, each with its own charm. You can travel between them on horseback or by jeep, surrounded by animals in a remarkable landscape. Our guide, Eliana, was great. She's from the area, knows it well, and has a sharp eye for spotting wildlife. We also stayed at hato Juan Solito (La Aurora), but to me the difference was like night and day. El Encanto de Guanapalo was better in literally every aspect. If you're deciding where to go in Casanare, I 100% recommend El Encanto de Guanapalo.
