There’s potential here, but the place needs work and better organization before it’s ready for regular guests. They charged us to use the kitchen, which was odd in all my years of traveling, especially since it was pretty dirty. Water pressure across the property is very low, and we had to use a bucket to flush our toilet. Loud bus horns outside also start at 6 a.m. every morning.
In Galerazamba, a lovely little community within two hours of both Barranquilla and Cartagena, this family-run hostel is a great weekend escape to connect with nature. The staff are happy to help with whatever you need, including showing you around the community. The beach is within walking distance, and volcano de tutomo is about 10 minutes away.
The place is clean and basic. You have to ring the bell, then wait about 10 minutes for the caretaker to arrive.
