The owners were very hospitable and even found a place to store our bicycles. The price seemed fair, and the location is great. It does get hot in the rooms at night, with the fan making it just bearable. The bathroom was fine but very basic, with no shower head. There wasn't much of a social atmosphere either, since everyone seemed to stay in their rooms instead of using the common areas.

Hotel 1525 opened here six weeks ago and is named for the year Santa Marta was incorporated. It's clean and modern, with great staff, and the location is good. The area around the hotel isn't safe to walk at night, so take a cab. I'll be back. Santa Marta is the oldest city in the Americas, not counting pre-Columbian settlements.

The hotel is pretty and the service was good. We were unlucky with a power cut, so there was no fan or Wi-Fi. Workmen building next door were banging away past midnight and accidentally cut the electricity. I really think the hotel should report them for breaking noise limits.

The staff were unbelievably friendly, and the rooms were clean with adjustable ceiling fans. Wi-Fi was fast and free, and prices were affordable. There's a good restaurant across the street, plus a pleasant lobby with good coffee in the morning and two terraces. They also do laundry, arrange radio taxis when guests need one, and offer certified tours like Ciudad Perdida and Parque Tayrona. Superb place!

A cozy, simple place with a warm feel and nice service. Prices are cheap and convenient, and the best bit is that it's one block from the beach.
