Hostal Candela Y Chocolate

Please look for somewhere better. I’m sure there are much better hostels in Centro than Candela & Chocolate. For 5000 pesos less, you can move to Azalea. It’s outside the center, but buses to Minca and Tayrona pass right by for pickup, and buses to Centro run constantly for 1600 pesos. There’s AC in the room at night, good internet, free breakfast, a big open-air common area with a cool breeze, and a very friendly owner who speaks English and Spanish. I had no internet during my stay, which I needed after spending 4 days in Minca. There was no AC, and the heat and humidity were unbearable. Cockroaches were everywhere, even in the room, and mosquitoes were eating me alive. The hostel advertises a price of 18000 on Hostelworld, but it actually costs 20000. The staff didn’t speak English. At 11am I wanted to go out for coffee and use the internet at a cafe, but I was locked inside. I had to wait 20 minutes for the guy to come back with the keys and let me out. Prison? I’d probably prefer prison.
