MuchoSur Santa Marta

We chose MuchoSur because it advertised coworking areas and WiFi for remote work, but the whole coworking space was closed and there was no WiFi during our stay. There was no signal inside the hotel either, so we were completely cut off. We were told it would be fixed the next day, but it wasn't. When we followed up, the response was indifferent, with no apology, effort, or solution. If you're counting on WiFi or expecting what's shown online, you'll likely be disappointed. The rooftop was another big reason we booked, and it was probably the biggest letdown. The pool had pigeon feathers and poop in it and clearly wasn't being maintained properly. The bar was closed, and the area felt abandoned. It's hard to understand how they can use promotional photos of it in this state. The balcony also had no hammock, even though one was shown in the listing. Breakfast was good, but nothing special. The hotel was nearly empty, which made sense after our experience. We stayed only one night, thankfully, and still regret booking it. It was a very frustrating and honestly misleading stay.

Staff were friendly, though they didn't speak English, which was the only downside for me. The breakfast was tasty and came out quickly, and the hotel was super affordable. We paid just $30 Canadian per person per night, which felt like a great deal. The room was large and very clean, with a balcony, and we were close to the waterfront and parque de Los novios.

I loved the place, so it's a shame that getting help through their WhatsApp channel after the visit was awful and left me feeling ignored. I asked several times, both in person and on WhatsApp, for an electronic invoice. They never said whether it was possible or replied to my messages.

The staff at this Hotel were really nice and treated us well. My wife loved it too. The beach is only a four-minute walk away, and there's plenty around, including restaurants, great clothing stores, and especially delicious coffee. Santa Marta, Colombia has lots of beautiful beaches as well.
