The Dreamer Hostel

We had to change rooms after finding lots of bugs, both dead and alive, on the pillows and duvets in our two separate private rooms. It left us seriously worried about bed bugs. When we raised it the next day, there was no discount offered at first. We had to ask reception to call the manager inBogota, and even then the offer was only 10%. It felt like Dreamer didn't care whether we slept well or had a good stay. The pool also looked slimy and dirty. I wouldn't return or recommend it. Save yourself and stay somewhere else.

Getting around was easy from The Dreamer Hostel, with transport options nearby for Tayrona National Park, Minca, and Palomino. The rooms, both dorms and private ones, were clean and comfortable, and the AC was a real help in Santa Marta's heat. There was plenty to do, from organized activities to meeting other travelers, but it was also easy to just relax by the pool with a drink. The grounds felt like a little oasis, with hammocks, a lovely pool, and a bar and restaurant serving tasty food at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly from the start and happy to help with recommendations or anything else. I had a great stay, and would definitely recommend The Dreamer if you want to unwind, have fun, and meet people.

We spent two nights here with two others to visit Tayrona National Park. It was a really nice hostel, just a 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop for the park. The rooms were clean, and the large pool was clean too. There was good music and lots of games, including pool, ping pong, darts, and a poker set. We'd definitely recommend it.

My partner and I ended up returning four times, staying in a different private room each visit. The rooms were all lovely, the beds comfortable, and the amenities were high quality. We used the kitchen a lot. It had a social, friendly feel without being too much of a party place, and the staff were all super friendly. The front desk team spoke great English and went out of their way on several occasions to help us with things beyond their usual job, which we really appreciated. The location was handy too, with a mall nearby, including an official Mac repair shop I used, plus a supermarket, buses, and plenty of restaurants. We booked our Lost city trek tour through them and had an amazing time. Thanks to Dreamer for making our time in Santa Marta so special. Special thanks to Connie, Gabriel, Elsa, Pipi, and the cleaning ladies, who found and returned my partner's lost size 14 insoles. We would have had a hard time managing without them.
