Casa de Campo Hotel & Spa

I’m disappointed with how the team handled our reservation. I contacted them by phone and email to explain that we couldn’t make the planned trip because my son’s passport hadn’t arrived in time. We only asked to move the dates, not for a refund, since the situation was outside our control. They refused to reschedule and showed no consideration, insisting on keeping the money without offering a date change. This was meant to be our first visit to Colombia, and the experience left a very negative impression. The customer service was far below what we expected.

The view is beautiful, the pool is nice, and the rooms are spacious. This could be a wonderful place, maybe it was under different management, but I’m very sad we stayed here when there are so many lovely hotels in Villa de Leyva. On arrival, an unfriendly, impolite receptionist insisted we pay a 20% tax on top of the Booking bill. We understood that tax only applies to Colombian citizens, not foreign tourists like us. We’d travelled around Colombia for four weeks and had never paid it. After arguing for an hour, we paid the extra 20% because our children were exhausted after nine hours of driving. The hotel website and Booking promise a restaurant, but there’s only breakfast. In the evening you have to drive 15 minutes back to town on an unlit gravel path or get take-away, which is rather sad. We killed at least 20 mosquitoes in the room before bed, and still slept badly because they kept buzzing and biting. There are no window screens or bed nets.

I love this place. It’s comfortable and peaceful, a nice spot to rest and spend time with family, away from the stress of the city. The service and room were excellent, and the people were lovely. I really recommend it.

There’s a big grassy area to play in and an amazing mountain view. The rooms are spacious, the Jacuzzi is hot, and the saunas are big. It’s very peaceful, and the owners are the hosts. Five stars.
