Hotel Morua

The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, and the playground is good. But I kept finding overcharges or duplicate charges during my recent stay, so I had to ask for itemized bills again and again. The restaurant and bar ordering system seems prone to errors. Check-in and check-out each took more than an hour, and reception service needs work.

The internet is bad.

I booked directly through WhatsApp and paid a deposit, expecting the reservation to be settled. After arriving at night following a long trip, pregnant and with my husband, we were told there was no booking. They said the person who helped me in the chat had never made it. I don’t think it was a scam, but it was a really frustrating situation, especially since I trusted a well-regarded place and nobody seemed willing to help. The receptionist, who I assumed might be the manager because he wasn’t wearing a uniform, just repeated that nobody had made the reservation. When I asked for my money back, they said it would take three business days. After I kept pushing for a solution, they finally gave us a room for that night only. The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless, and it seems like a good place to get away from daily life for a few days. That made the experience even more disappointing. We had booked several days and paid in advance so we wouldn’t have to pack up, leave one place, then wait hours for check-in somewhere else. I found the hotel through social media recommendations while looking for a place outside Bogotá to relax with my husband.

The rooms at The Morua Hotel are roomy, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We also liked the pool and the drinks on the menu. On arrival, though, nobody helped me promptly. We had paid to bring a pet, but the promised bed and food bowl never showed up. They eventually refunded that charge because they hadn’t provided what was advertised. The pool area also has very slippery patches. We saw a woman carrying a baby slip and fall hard during our stay. Wet areas need to be kept clean and dry, and should have non-slip mats or tape.
