The finca-hotel sits in a cow pasture with a nice view, and the caretaker was friendly and funny, though he only speaks Spanish. The house is cold. There are heaters in the rooms, but I still froze after a shower, where the water only got lukewarm even with the inline heater. It was too cold for the ladies to wash their hair. The driveway is about 100 yards of steep, loose rock. Coming from Zipacon by the Google Maps route, our car scraped underneath and crawled uphill at 2 mph with the pedal down. The route from facativa is less steep, but that driveway is still a challenge. It might work well for a big group, but there weren't many kinds of birds and not much to do on the farm. WiFi would load text, but not images, and couldn't even open Google maps on my tablet.

Norma and Ruben made us feel like family during our August 2015 visit, and Clara cooked delicious meals. The home was comfortable, clean, nicely decorated, and well cared for. We loved the quiet setting among the mountains and rolling hills. If you're after a peaceful B&B near Facatativa, this is a lovely choice. It's about a 25 minute taxi ride from the Colombia Bethel in Facatativa, which may suit its visitors too. Finca Hacienda Caracoli is a real hidden gem in central Colombia and good value for families, professionals, or vacationers. We had a great stay and loved it.

The open grassy area has plenty of parking and no trees, so it's easy to fly a kite or a drone. There's also a handy gas fireplace and facilities for making barbecue. It gets cold around there all the time, so bring plenty of warm clothes. A great place to get away from the city.

We had a really pleasant weekend, with all 8 adults and 5 children comfortable across the 4 rooms. Norma and Ruben were kind and attentive to anything we needed, and the house is well maintained. The location felt safe and is very close to Bogotá. I'd recommend it for a weekend away.
