A genuine little retreat in the rainforest, with a huge garden and a hanging bridge over the private river. The owner is such a kind soul, and the nearby hot springs are charming. At this price, it feels like great value. Skip the faraway famous spots where you might overpay. I’d definitely come back. New towels and sheets would make guests more comfortable, though, and could justify a higher price.

It’s Ingrid’s and Marco’s home, and that gives the place a warmth a cookie-cutter hotel can’t match. They welcomed us like family, and every corner feels cared for and full of character. We felt so safe we didn’t even bother locking the door, and town is close, even though the property feels far removed once you’re there. The beds were cosy and comfortable, and the mineral spring water comes right from the tap. Screened windows let in the night breeze, so we slept without air conditioning. The land covers 160 acres of lush nature. Butterflies move among the flowers, birds sing all around, and the jungle is the last thing we hear at night and the first thing in the morning. I’d pick this over a whitewashed five-star resort. It’s five stars for unspoiled nature and a heartfelt stay I won’t forget.

Ingrid made us feel so welcome and looked after us with real warmth. We came with friends, kids, and dogs, and had no problems. We felt safe the whole time. The apartments have everything you need for everyday life, plus a bit more. The setting is stunning: you can hear the river, spot all kinds of plants and animals, cross the hanging bridge, and wander around the huge farm. It felt like stepping into a dream. 10/10.

I can’t describe how beautiful the flowers and plants are. There are rainforest trails, a hanging bridge, hot springs, and a natural bath right on the property. Ingrid was so kind and helpful. We’ll stay here again when we return to Costa Rica.

The host was gracious and incredibly kind, a real sweetheart. The hillside between two rivers is beautiful, but the place was more rustic than the Airbnb listing led us to expect. The bugs were a lot to handle, even for us, and we live somewhere with plenty of insects back home. We also couldn’t get comfortable sleeping. It’s so humid and damp, and there’s no air conditioning or even a fan. If you’re coming from the States, be ready for a camping kind of stay. The property is lovely, but there are no luxuries.
