The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and dependable. When I suddenly needed envelopes, the woman at the front desk even made some from printer paper. That was such a help. I was there as a teacher with 25 teenage girls, so the safe campus mattered a lot to us. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable, the covered outdoor restaurant was a lovely place for meals, and we had plenty of room to meet as a group at the end of the day. One caution: the paths aren't accessible for wheelchairs or crutches.

The rooms were cleaned daily, and the beds were really comfortable. Our school group had a great spring break here, and I learned a lot of Spanish while I was there. It was a great chance to study the language, and the place was enjoyable too. There's a race track next door that runs on Mondays around 9-10 pm, and some attractions are a bit far away. Even so, I'd recommend it to people coming for Spanish lessons or a pleasant stay.

Tourists, take a look at the menu prices. The English menu lists pretty much every item at a different price, at least $2-$3 more for “gringos.” At the current exchange rate of $1 to 500 colones, a Heineken is 1800 colones, over $4, on the Spanish menu, but $9 in English. That's insane.

I stayed here last week with a group of university students attending a conference in CR. It felt much better than an ordinary hotel, and I'd choose it again if I visited CR on my own vacation. The staff were so friendly and courteous. The place was clean and modern, with big bathrooms, AC in the rooms, and hot water.
