Heliconias Nature Inn & Hot Springs

The grounds are lovely, and it’s about a 10 minute walk to the center. Rooms are roomy cabin or chalet style, comfortable, very clean, and have nice showers. There’s a TV, air conditioning, fridge, and safe. Breakfast was the only letdown. The ladies serving were surly, portions were small, and the food quality wasn’t great. No butter, just margarine, and the coffee was poor.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff were great. Breakfast was included, simple but good, and the price felt like great value. It’s around a 5 minute drive to the town center square, and I’d happily come back. The rooms are a bit dated, but absolutely spotless.

Adriana, the on-site manager and owner, went so far out of her way to help me during a major travel emergency. I was traveling alone, and her kindness felt like having a guardian angel there. I’ll keep the details private, but she even paid for a pizza for me because I hadn’t eaten all day after the wildest travel day of my life. I’m incredibly grateful. The property is beautiful, the free breakfast was amazing, and the location was just right: walkable to town without being caught up in the tourist bustle. I added an extra night and booked excursions through Adriana. She has connections and a thorough document covering just about every tour you could want. I also got to see Rio Celeste, a dream of mine, and had a great shared shuttle ride back to the Liberia airport for about $60. Highly recommend for solo travelers, families, or groups of friends.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it. The rooms were clean and modest, in keeping with Costa Rica’s general style, and the grounds were even more beautiful than the photos suggest. A large, well-kept pool and a medium-sized hot tub sit among lush greenery.
