Vida Tropical Bed and Breakfast

Randy made our overnight stay before leaving Costa Rica easy and fun. He was friendly and knew the answers to all our questions. He replied promptly to every email before and after we booked, and the letter with directions and instructions was really helpful. He was ready to assist without hovering. The place felt safe and was very clean. We had an early flight, and Randy prepared a quick breakfast and coffee, plus some snacks for the journey. He also arranged our morning ride to the airport. Randy’s Leafs fan joke helped dissolve all our travel stress. My daughter and I arrived late and cranky after an ice storm in Houston (!) earlier this year. He stayed up for us, looked at me, and said, “Oh, you can’t stay here.” For a second I believed him, then he pointed to my Montreal Canadiens hat and said he was a Leafs fan. We laughed and laughed. The rest of our stay was lovely too. Our room and ensuite bathroom were spacious and clean, breakfast was excellent, and there were bunnies in the yard. Randy helped book a shuttle to Puerto Viejo and gave us directions to central Alajuela, walking partway with us so we could spend a few hours there before heading out. We came back for another night before flying home, and everything was great again. Vida Tropicale isn’t luxe, but that wasn’t what we needed. We didn’t realize when we booked that it was exactly the kind of place we wanted. I totally recommend it. Thanks, Randy, and sorry it took so long to write this. I hope to see you in March or April!

A good value in a safe neighborhood, handy both when arriving and leaving. It’s outside the flight path, and Randy is friendly and accommodating.
