This hostel really helped us out. We were driving through the night on our way to Monteverde, but my husband, who was driving, got too tired and we needed to stop. Hostel Nuevo had room for us at very short notice and at a super affordable price. We’re really grateful! Check-in is at the restaurant beside the hostel, and there’s parking inside the hostel grounds.

Mary was a very friendly and helpful host. She suggested places to visit during the day and good spots to eat. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and very clean. It’s good value, close to local amenities, and I’d stay again.

The room itself was decent and clean, though there was a slight sewage smell. The booking payment was a tiring experience. They wanted to charge more than the Booking.com price with the genius discount, and their exchange rate was 25% worse than the rate that day. After some arguing, they agreed to the Booking price only if we paid in dollars instead of colones. I thought Costa Rica used colones. It left a bad taste.

The rooms are small, but had everything I needed for the night. Great value, and the cleanliness seemed good.

The hosts were very helpful, and the room was spotless. There’s fast internet, 50 Mbps or more, and parking right in the courtyard. Hot water was available, and the restaurant downstairs served good burgers. You can also ask for a hairdryer.
