Eden Atenas

Waking up to those views was a highlight. The rooms are modest, but they have what you need for a longer stay, and the gardens are beautiful, with jungle and coffee plantations all around. We heard howler monkeys and spotted iguanas, birds, geckos, and butterflies. Everyone on staff was so friendly and welcoming. We’re hoping to come back next year. Eden Atenas is nicely placed for reaching both coasts and Monteverde.

We slept unbelievably well here. It’s such a lovely place to switch off and enjoy yourself. The room was clean, pretty, and comfortable, and the garden really does feel like an eden, full of plants and animals. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves and had a great time chatting with the manager. We’ll always remember our time in Atenas. Thank you!

The manager brings so much warmth to the place, and spending time with her was a joy. The setting is amazing, breakfast is excellent, and town is close by. The road gets a bit busy if you’re walking, but it’s only about 1 1/4 miles. I walked along the edge a couple of times and was fine, though most people would probably prefer a Rent-A-Car. I’m looking forward to coming back.

I got in around 10pm and it was hard to see much or find the place in the dark, though Google had it right. Every driveway seems to have a gate. Ernesto greeted me warmly and helped me to my room, which was beautiful, with a comfy large bed and a nice bathroom. He suggested getting up early for birds, so I was out at 530am, just after sunrise. The views were amazing, and I saw my first two keeled billed toucans, plus lots of hummingbirds and more. A wonderful breakfast followed shortly after. This has been my favorite stay so far, just over a week into my trip. I’d definitely stay again.
