We spent a week at Bosque del Cabo and left wishing we could stay longer. The private trails were a favorite, especially walking them with Carlos. His knowledge and experience made the hikes memorable, though it was lovely to explore on our own too. There was wildlife right on the property, and the view of the Pacific Ocean from our bungalow was stunning. Every meal was delicious. What stayed with us most was the team: they felt like one big family and clearly cared about the guests, the land, and the nature around them. A special place on the Osa Peninsula.

After a long month of field work, I came with friends to unwind in nature and see the area. The hospitality was among the best I’ve experienced. The staff made us feel welcome and looked after, while also giving us room to relax and spend the day as we liked. I spent plenty of time on the hotel’s trails, both day and night. There was wildlife everywhere: birds, snakes, mammals, insects, spiders, frogs, and all sorts of other things. The facilities were incredible, too. Dinner is served family style, which makes it easy to chat with the other guests. I often say I recommend a place, but here I really, really mean it.

The social dinners and happy hours at the pool bar were a lot of fun, and the family style seating means guests share tips and stories. If chatting with other people isn’t your thing, you may not enjoy that part. And it’s a rainforest, so there are harmless bugs. The bungalows don’t have air conditioning, either, so anyone who needs it all day and night should keep that in mind. We came back in 2026, hoping Bosque del Cabo would live up to our 2015 stay. It did. The grounds and views are beautiful, and the resort still feels immersed in nature rather than overbuilt. Phil and the team, Glenda, Felipe, Chi Chi, Ali, Mar, Grevine and Angel, were kind and helpful. They’ve kept improving the facilities while preserving the nature focused feel. They were patient with my terrible Español, and everyone has mastered English. The trails to the beaches and waterfall are gorgeous. Carlos was a fantastic guide and helped us spot over 40 birds, monkeys, and other creatures. The afternoon wildlife and bird tour was easy and amazing. Meals were delicious, simple, and locally sourced. I especially liked the curry and fish. Remember to order packed lunches the night before if you have a day activity. My favorite part was getting up early and lingering over breakfast outside for 90+ minutes, watching animals wander around. Great eggs, awesome banana pancakes, and lots of fresh fruit.

The lodges sit among rainforest habitat on a huge, remote property above the Pacific Ocean, with just a few thatched roofs scattered along the cliffs. There are walking trails, and the zip line was fun. The food suited the setting perfectly. The staff were delightful, always smiling and willing to help. Many have worked there for 20 years, and it felt like they genuinely wanted us to enjoy ourselves, without trying to squeeze extra money out of our stay. The lodges don’t have air conditioning, though we adjusted to living in the natural surroundings. Showers are in private walled gardens just outside the lodges, a really unique touch. And don’t be surprised if a howler monkey wakes you at 5am. We loved our stay at this little slice of heaven on earth. You’d have to try very hard not to enjoy it.

A year later, we’re still talking about all the animals we saw at Bosque Del Cabo: howler monkeys, white faced capuchin, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, baby coatamundi, agouti everywhere, red eyed tree frogs, and the elusive tyra. We still remember the food too. Banana pancakes and smoothies became a daily necessity for our family. Heylin knew all our names on day one and went out of her way to get cold medicine from Puerto Jimenez when my dad got sick. Carlos and my brother connected over their shared love of birds, and on a night hike Carlos delighted us with his perfect frog impressions. The whole staff made us feel welcome and special. Sleeping to the sound of rain and frogs was magical. Our daily alarm was the howler monkeys.
