We heard monkeys in the morning, and the small new pool was charming for an evening swim, with lights in it. The wooden houses feel very authentic, and the lodge is in or at the edge of Cahuita National Park. Breakfast was simple but good Costa Rican food. The mattress was very hard, and the fridge made some noise.

It was a quiet, romantic stay, with natural surroundings and very friendly staff. Breakfast was acceptable, with fruit, egg, and toast; the coffee wasn't up to CR standards. Wi-Fi was available, with the best connection in the reception cottage.

Gaia deserves a lot of love. She's a quiet professional who gets everything done without making a fuss, and things simply fall into place. Our unit was comfortable, with cozy beds, cool a/c, and windows that let in a nice breeze during the day. The shower was big enough for a big dude, and we enjoyed being inside as much as out. There was also a small, practical kitchen with a four-burner propane stovetop and a full-size-for-Costa-Rica fridge. The place is charming and rustic, and clearly built with the environment in mind. After a long day of adventures in Cahuita, the generous patio and inviting hammock were just right. We’d likely come back, and we appreciate the staff's commitment to preserving their beautiful surroundings.
