The wildlife was everywhere, day and night. We spotted a mother sloth with her baby, plenty of frogs, and more. Our cabin had a hammock on the patio and a huge bathroom with a rain shower. The staff made us feel right at home, and we enjoyed the food and drinks too. Between the hot springs and the water slides into the creek and pool, there was plenty of fun to fill the days. They even surprised me with a birthday dessert and a towel sloth. Such a memorable birthday trip at Chachagua, and I'd happily come back.

The night hike was a highlight. Our guide had a great eye for wildlife and knew a lot about the animals we found, including howler monkeys, several kinds of tree frogs, a kinkajou, and even a hummingbird asleep on a branch. He showed us what to look for and had been working there for years. We booked rooms 301/302, with a private hot tub, patio, and sunny spot. The smaller rooms also have private decks, large bathrooms, and access to the hot springs, night tour, morning yoga, and other amenities. Late checkout gave us extra time to enjoy the hotel. It's also locally owned by a Costa Rican, so staying here supports the local economy and the country's development.

We were there in May 2026 and would gladly stay again. The lodge was clean and roomy, and we slept well in the comfortable beds. The grounds are beautiful, with adventure trips and rainforest hikes offered by day and at night. Everyone on staff was warm and helpful. Seeing a sloth in the tree right above our lodge was a special moment. We'd recommend the place to friends and family.

The rainforest setting and the wildlife were exactly what I came for. I forgot my binoculars, which I regretted, but Ruben let me use his scope to see a sloth. The place is remote, and rain and a few insects come with that, so keep it in mind. My family of five loved it. The staff made the whole stay special, including my birthday. They added thoughtful little touches over our four days and sang to me at dinner. Kim, Sharon, Jacqueline, and Roberto were standouts in the restaurant. Alejandra taught a great yoga class for people at different levels, and Ruben was a wonderful wildlife guide and made the coffee and chocolate class fun. Even the gardeners greeted me. I didn't get to meet the manager, though I would have liked to thank them in person. GRACIAS! I really hope management recognizes the staff. They deserve a special thank you.

We came as a family of three for two nights, as part of my child's Make a Wish Foundation wish, and loved the stay from the moment we arrived. Our only full day went to a wildlife hike, so we couldn't try everything on offer, but it was unforgettable. We saw a mother sloth and her baby in a tree above our room as soon as we arrived. The concierge who showed us around spotted them for us. The individual rooms are separate buildings tucked into the rainforest, with front and back decks and a private outdoor hot tub. Ours was spacious, with a large spa-like bathroom and shower. The open-air concierge desk was pleasant, coffee was available, and the service was thoughtful and excellent. We loved the hot springs and the open-air restaurant too. The food was delicious and service great. The restaurant is pricey, though no more than an upscale place; breakfast was included and quite nice. A lovely choice if you like exploring or simply relaxing somewhere beautiful and private.
