Hotel Coco Heights Condos

The two women running the place when I visited were wonderful. They somehow managed the rooms, meals, and guests, and the one meal I've had so far was very good. It's quiet and seems suited to families or couples traveling together. The room was quite large, with four double beds, a basic shower, toilet, sink, and TV. A fridge may or may not be included in the price, and meals may or may not be included too. There is a clean pool, not huge but big enough for short laps, around 10 parking spaces, and the beach is a 10-minute walk or less. The town center is about 20 minutes away. Children over 3 are charged even without a meal plan, so the final cost can vary. Payment is another hassle: you can pay online by CR bank transfer, through a booking service like Airbnb, or in cash. For credit card payment you have to go to their sister hotel about 1 km away. The building needs repairs and more cleaning, including the windows and ceilings. The biggest problems are inconsistent pricing and inconvenient payment. If those were sorted out and some minor repairs made, this could be a nice place to spend a few weeks.

The woman in charge was very friendly and helpful. The pool was very clean, and there was parking. But it was far from the city center, and our bathroom smelled so bad it was almost unusable. There was also moisture on the walls. Our double room was one bedroom in an apartment with its own bathroom, plus a shared kitchen and dining room. Each bedroom had two familiar beds. The kitchen had the right equipment, including an oven, microwave, blender, and electric rice boiler, though the plates, bowls, and glasses were plastic. Bedrooms had fans and AC. The price depends on the days and gets very expensive on weekends.

For a budget stay, the location in Playas del Coco is good. It's within walking distance of the beach and next to the popular pizza place Señor Pizza. We got a good Airbnb price, so our expectations weren't high. The units have potential, but they're poorly maintained and need serious repairs. There was a cockroach problem in the kitchen. Keeping the counters clean and the garbage sealed or out of the unit seemed to keep them away by the end of our trip.

It's a tucked-away little spot with a nature-filled backyard and small balconies. Breakfast was included, and there's a pizza place, seafood restaurant, and supermarket nearby. Coco's Town is five minutes away by car. Bring your own towels, since they don't provide that service yet. I was very disappointed by the cockroaches in the kitchen, bathrooms, and rooms.
