We came for my son's 20th birthday and ended up celebrating with everyone there, as if we'd known each other forever. It felt safe, the place was clean, and the hosts were down to earth and resourceful. Our private room with two beds was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious, even on the morning we had to leave at 5 a.m. One of my favorite memories from our 12-day trip was making dinner with the host family, with Oscar leading and the guests pitching in food and help. We cooked a Red Snapper with a head as big as my son's. The whole process was such a good time. The location is special too, right on the sandy beach. From the veranda you can watch the waves or monkeys, and you can hear the surf at night. If you're after parties or want to be completely alone, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want to meet locals and have an unusual stay that feels like joining a family, it really worked for us. Everyone's experience will depend on how they approach a place, but we feel lucky we came. Can't wait to return.

Oscar and Jonathan were fantastic captains, and we spotted dolphins and a whale on the ride. The speedboat from Uvita to Drake Bay took about an hour and a half, which made it a great option for us. Sit up front if you're ready for a bumpy trip!

I wasn't sure about taking the trip, so I wanted to share how it went. The boat shuttle from Drake to Uvita was punctual and comfortable, and I'd recommend it. The weak part was Pirate Drake's communication, which other reviews mention too. We got no replies, information came very late, and nobody was at their beach location.

Every time one of my hotel guests has booked a tour with this company, they have failed to show up. They also haven't refunded guests after failing to provide the service they paid for. Pirate Drake and Uvita Drake Express are the same operator. Avoid booking with either if you don't want your vacation ruined. This is a scam.

I paid the owner by transfer for a national park tour. At the tour office, I found out that he had reserved my place but hadn't sent them the money. When I confronted him, he said he'd refund me straight away. I'm still waiting for it. Be careful booking through this company, there's a high chance you could get scammed.
