Hotel Hojarascas

My daughters summed it up best: “Dad, why didn’t you tell us you had family in Costa Rica?” I stayed here about two or three years ago, and it felt like home. Omar, the owner, is such a great character. He’ll take time to tell you where to go in town, and he makes delicious homemade tamales for supper. It’s a small hotel, very clean, and everyone is so friendly. Outstanding place.

I just needed a bed, table and chair, and a clean bathroom, and that’s what I got. No hairdryer or iron, but the basics were enough for me. The hotel is clean, affordable, family-run, and the owners are lovely. I had some good conversations with the owner, who was very kind and helpful and told me a lot about places to go and other things.

José Omar is a warm, welcoming host who makes the place feel like a friend’s home. It’s tidy and very clean. Whenever I’m back in Heredia, or San José, I’ll definitely stay here again. Hopefully soon.

Omar is a very helpful host, and the price was right. The hotel is in a nice spot in a smaller city. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with a TV. My one concern was that there seemed to be only one way out in case of a fire.
