Being right on the beach was a plus, and breakfast was decent. The place itself felt shabby, though, and wasn’t especially clean or comfortable. The rooms aren’t very welcoming, but they’re okay for crashing after a busy day of vacation. Check when you book, since surf lessons aren’t included with every room.

The staff are friendly, and the place is clean, with a relaxed, easygoing feel. The entrance is confusing because there’s another name there, so they really should put up a sign with the resort’s actual name. Ricardo, the surf instructor, is friendly, clearly loves what he does, and goes the extra mile for guests.

I only surfed with this school, so I can’t compare it with the others nearby, but they’re absolutely top notch. The instructors are friendly and know their stuff. They each teach a little differently, and they’re all good. Definitely worth it.

When I arrived, the receptionist said they had no record of my hotels.com booking and no rooms left. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with hotels.com, but they couldn’t get through to the hotel to sort it out. The man at reception got aggressive and curt when I tried to talk to him. With nowhere else available in town, I slept in my car. It felt like once they had your money, you were just a nuisance.

I’d watched their lessons all week before deciding to try one with CRSC last Saturday, and I’m so glad I did. They’re right on the beach near my hotel, Beach Break, which made it really convenient. Angela was my instructor, and she was amazing. She helped me fulfill a childhood dream by getting me to stand on a surfboard for the first time. The instructors make sure you have a good chance of catching at least one wave during the two-hour lesson, and keep things safe. I’d definitely recommend a lesson with CRSC!
