Hotel Blue Marlin - Nightclub & Sports Bar on Site

If a good night’s sleep matters, I’d look elsewhere. We stayed in March 2021 and were woken by the metal security gate banging whenever guests or staff came through. A bar behind the hotel stayed loud until midnight despite the COVID restrictions, and the busy street brought in cars, shouting, and conversations through our door all night. There seemed to be many people working from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in jobs where pay wasn’t subject to Social Security or withholding tax. The area felt seedy, with an undercurrent of illegal activity, and this place seemed to be in the middle of the party scene. That might suit someone looking for nightlife, but it wasn’t for us. Parking is on the street, and I didn’t like leaving the car there with so many unemployed-looking men hanging around. The room itself was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The shower and water pressure were good, too. But the room was small and bare, as my SO put it, “Spartan.” There was no chair or couch, and no information about local attractions. I can’t recommend it.

The pool is pleasant, just on the small side, and there’s a nice bar, disco, and food. The rooms are very clean, though about as bare-bones as they come. A wastebasket in the room would help. We’ll be back!

You can walk to just about everything from this hotel, and the staff are friendly. The bar and restaurant serve tasty food, especially the chicken fingers, at reasonable prices. Just keep in mind that the hotel is connected to a nightclub, so late music could be a problem if you’re not into partying.

The rooms are brand new and clean, and I’d happily stay here again. There are separate nice pools for families and adults, and it’s about 20 meters from the beach and all of jaco. Take the owner/manager’s advice, too.
