Hotel Vista Hermosa

For $250 a night, I expected much better. The toilet seat and towels were stained and dirty, and we had a few unwelcome insect visitors. The pool and jacuzzi by our room were broken, while the other pool was very dirty and its jacuzzi was extremely hot. I spilled coffee on the sheet, and Abel said I’d damaged it and demanded $40. At check-in, the guy kept saying he’d bring my change right away, but it took two hours before he finally showed up at our room with it.

I stayed here in 2018 because of the location and low price, and both were good. The beach is maybe 50 yards away, there’s a small pool, and there’s a restaurant attached. The management was cooperative. My room was clean, with a bathroom, small table and chairs, a bunk bed, and a standard bed that was a little too small for me. We used the bunk for our bags. It was a spartan room, fine for a short stay if you’re not after something modern or luxurious. No complaints for the price, though it may have changed since I was there.

The ocean is very powerful here, so swimming isn’t recommended at all. Kids can play around the hotel, though there aren’t many activities for them. If you’re here to surf, it’s a great spot in the middle of Playa Hermosa. Lots of pros are already out surfing early, around 5:30 every morning.

I had a pleasant four-day stay and would happily come back and recommend it. The beach in front is amazing, and it’s pet-friendly, so my pet loved running around. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and the restaurant had excellent choices for everyone. The food was delicious, and the employees were friendly and gave very good service. The hospitality was a highlight, especially from Rony, the manager and co-owner, who was a great host.
