The host was kind and helpful, and it’s easy to get around Jaco on foot from here. For a budget stay, the public area and pool are nice, and the room had good A/C and a refrigerator and was clean. I stayed two nights. The downsides were no WiFi and no hot water.

The place is attractive and the rooms are clean, but my first stay at Coral will also be my last. When I was sitting in the poolside chairs with snacks, the manager told us eating there wasn’t allowed, even though we weren’t in the water. Parking was another issue: the space is tiny and right in front of other rooms, so I kept worrying the car might get scratched. And any time you want to leave or come back, you have to wait for the manager to open the gate. If you’re already outside, you’re left waiting until she comes to let you in. I wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing, and this didn’t meet my expectations. I’d rather keep paying at Las Gaviotas, where the grounds are spacious, you can come and go without waiting for the gate, and you can use the pool without being watched.
