Jaco Hotel Docelunas

We spent a week at Doce Lunas for a yoga retreat, and I'd happily return. Frank looked after us so well during the buffet meals, and the food and fresh juices were delicious. The rooms were clean despite the rainforest wildlife, and the property was well cared for. A few dogs and cats around the resort gave it extra character and a bit of protection. The grounds were gorgeous, with ripe mangoes and other edible fruit growing when we were there. Owner Chris knew a lot and was very accommodating. He offered to show our group the resort's plants, as well as local history and street art in Jaco. They also arranged several outings, including guided hikes through parkland, horseback riding, and a boat trip to Isla Tortuga. It was an incredible stay.

I could have happily stayed another week at DoceLunas. The pool, with monkeys playing in the trees nearby, and the delicious food made the jungle atmosphere especially fun. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the staff are welcoming. You can borrow a bike to get into town and reach the beach, or just stay put and watch wildlife right outside. It's a lovely little piece of Costa Rica, just up the street from Jaco.

We felt at home here, and leaving was hard. The pool was lovely, with a fun waterfall feature, and everyone around it seemed happy. The rooms are spacious, with beautiful tile and tall vaulted ceilings. The local staff were courteous and helpful, and made the stay feel authentic. Town is only about a three-dollar Uber ride away, with fantastic food options.

We loved the gardens and being able to spot toucans and monkeys nearby. The staff were kind and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and clean. There's a decent-sized pool and a small jacuzzi too. It's a great choice if you're looking for a break from Jaco's party scene. The beach is a bit of a walk, but we went on foot and noticed bikes by the entrance that guests can use.
