Room2Board Hostel and Surf School

We had a great stay and would come back. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the room temperature was just right. The bar and pool area was a highlight, with good drinks at decent prices, and the beach is only a few steps away. Sunset from the terrace or beach is a must. A couple of drawbacks: the WiFi didn't work, so you may want an eSIM if you need internet. There weren't really vegan dishes on the menu, so we didn't eat there.

The top-floor private room had a spectacular view, and we found it comfortable and clean. The quiet hours from 11 pm made it easy to get a good night's rest. There's a lot to enjoy here, from the delicious food, especially the reina pepiada arepa, to the sandwiches, drinks, and reliable WiFi. I also loved my yoga class with Lupe, and my boyfriend got great service when he rented a board. Good value, too. Greta welcomed us, went over everything, and helped us find plans. The rest of the team was friendly as well. One blonde bar staff member seemed rushed and wasn't very helpful at times. The location and social atmosphere made this a really fun stay, and we'd recommend it.

The staff were friendly and gave useful information, and it was an easy walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. I ordered shrimp rice from the bar and enjoyed it. My king bed single room with shared bathroom suited my needs. The furniture was very old and basic, but fortunately the bathroom was effectively mine because the adjoining room was vacant. Cleanliness was below average, and the kitchen looked terrible. Music from the terrace played loudly from 6 to 11 pm, far too noisy for me. I can't understand how nearby properties don't complain. Next time I visit Jaco, I'd rather book somewhere else.

They looked after me, and the food choices were good, though priced for an American budget. The dorms could use privacy curtains, and the kitchen needs more utensils and mugs. I'd stay again.
