Tropical Camas

It’s been remodeled nicely, was very clean, and is conveniently close to the beach, a corner store, restaurants, and a surf shop with rentals. The owner and staff are really nice and accommodating. When I arrived, nobody was there, probably because I’d booked through Hostelworld only an hour or two beforehand. I called, and they sent someone to let me in. Booking further ahead or calling in advance might mean someone is there when you arrive.

The owner was incredibly helpful and even drove me to the capital and picked me up. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, with everything you need. The kitchen is small but fully equipped, and I cooked every meal there. It’s a great spot, a short walk from the beach and a short drive from Jaco.

It’s cheap, clean, has AC and lots of parking. The nearby beach is beautiful and much less busy than Jaco. In low season hardly anyone was staying there, so I had the dorm to myself. The downside was that they don’t speak English. When I paid by card, they tried to rip me off by charging 500 colones for a dollar, so I had to payml in cash dollars.

The hotel is in a peaceful spot, and it’s still being developed. Its location is hard to beat, just steps from the beach, and some rooms have lovely ocean views. There’s a pool too. Ray and Isabel are very attentive. Just know there’s no supermarket nearby, so you’ll need to drive if you want to buy anything.
