Hotel Boutique Casa Del Rio

We stayed two nights in February, and even the rainy weather didn’t stop us having a great time. The property is much bigger than we expected and feels like a jungle resort. Staff were very welcoming, the room looked as it did in the photos, and the gated grounds felt secure and private. It was easy to arrange transport into town. We didn’t eat dinner on site, so can’t speak to that. Our room’s design wasn’t really my personal favorite, but it was represented accurately online. We’d seen reviews mentioning bugs and didn’t have any issues ourselves. Given the lush jungle greenery on the mountain, it would have been more surprising to find no insects at all. The included breakfast had pastries, American and Costa Rican choices, plus add-ons, coffee, and juice, just what you’d expect. The highlight was the outdoor tub on our balcony. It was partly covered, which worked perfectly in the rain. We opened a bottle of champagne and enjoyed our own private hot tub time. All the best to the team :)

The staff made the stay. Maria and Katherine were welcoming, set us up on WhatsApp, kept us updated about the hotel, showed us around, and shared ideas for things to do nearby. The restaurant crew were great too. Diego, Carlos, Miguel, and the Cuban guy whose name I’ve forgotten, who made amazing mixed fruit juices in the morning, looked after us at breakfast and dinner. The food and drinks were good every time. Housekeeping kept our room clean, and the groundskeepers maintained the property so well. Casa Del Rio is in a great spot, tucked into a safe corner just outside the main square of La Fortuna. There are beautiful pools, a fish pond, and a sports area for games during downtime. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in La Fortuna. Anyone who’s given this place less than five stars is out of their mind. God bless the Casa Del Rio team 🤙

I’ve travelled a lot, and this is one of my favorite hotels. Everything felt special, from the perfect massage to the many pools and all the nature around the stunning grounds. The restaurant has an amazing view of Arenal volcano, and it’s an easy walk into downtown La Fortuna. I loved every bit of it and would return in a heartbeat.

The villa felt completely private, surrounded by lush greenery, and the gated resort sits at the end of a short road with no traffic noise. Town is still only about five minutes away. The view was hard to beat, and the balcony and room were phenomenal. Service was amazing, with attentive, helpful staff who made our stay incredible. The pools were great, the spa was AMAZING, and the restaurant was five stars. Breakfast was included and made to order, with fresh pastries and fruit rather than the usual buffet. I’d recommend it to anyone. Pure vida!
