Hotel Secreto La Fortuna

The hotel is set in a lovely spot in the center of La Fortuna, with lots of great restaurants an easy walk away. The flora and fauna were wonderful: we spotted sloths, a toucan, and an iguana through our binoculars, and saw butterflies and hummingbirds around the pool. It was too cold for us to use the pool. At breakfast, staff put out fruit that brought birds over, and it was lovely to see so many and hear them singing. The good breakfast was the same each day, though, and after three days I wished they would change up the fruit. The room had a clothing rack, but everything stayed damp in the daily rain. It was too cold to use the AC, and the heat didn't work. The pillows were also too big and hard, which made sleeping less comfortable.

I felt very, very safe here as a solo traveler, and I truly didn't want to leave this oasis. The clean, spacious, gorgeous rooms and easy parking made things comfortable, and the covered patio was great for drying clothes. Breakfast was tasty, and the grounds are stunning. The location is right in the heart of La Fortuna, one of the best parts of this beautiful hotel. What really makes the place special is the unmatched hospitality. Uriel was great at finding animals to see around the grounds, and the staff even helped put air in my rental car tire. I wish I could live here. Can't wait to return. Do not hesitate to visit.

The walkways to the rooms feel like a well-kept botanical garden. The hotel is beautiful and close to the city center, and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. Outstanding service and an excellent breakfast, too.

We spent four days here while exploring the La fortuna area and loved how the central garden made the place feel secluded and wild, even though local sodas for lunch and dinner are an easy walk away. The spacious room had everything we needed, with a hot shower and great water pressure. When we needed a break from spending money, it was lovely to have the pool and its volcano view, if the clouds cleared in the late afternoon just before sunset. We saw some crazy birds, a toucan, and a sloth high in a tree from the pool. Prices around La fortuna can add up fast, though most seemed fair and worth it. Our favorite part was the little dachshund-esque dog who roams the property and likes company from guests. She was clearly well loved and so sweet that I wanted to take her home. Thanks to the welcoming, lovely staff for making this a great place to stay in such a beautiful part of the world. I couldn't recommend it enough.
