Almonds & Corals Boutique Hotel

It’s wonderfully peaceful here. The only sounds are animals, and from the pool you can watch three kinds of monkeys, toucans, and lots of other birds. A beautiful beach is just a few steps away. The design is lovely and cozy, with a real feel-good atmosphere. Service was outstanding, everything was spotlessly clean, and the housekeeping team was very dedicated. Absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to relax.

We’d booked 5 nights but managed just one because a tree came through our roof. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout, and arranged for us to stay at a nearby hotel. The room, pool, and surrounding area are stunning, and the service we experienced was second to none. It’s quiet and relaxed, far enough from Puerto Viejo to feel peaceful but still close enough to travel in for food and entertainment. The rooms are quaint, with a superb coffee machine, microwave, stove, sink, breakfast bar, a good-sized toilet and shower, and an outdoor bathtub. There’s also a large bedroom TV with the main streaming platforms, where you can put on a Christmas film or two. At Kañik, our one breakfast was gallo pinto with fruit, fresh juice, and filter coffee. They also asked what they could do to customize breakfasts instead of serving the same dish every day, which was a lovely touch. I’d recommend staying here. For the beach, go through the boardwalk at Almonds and Corals hotel rather than the public footpath, which can be muddy and wet after rain.

You’ll need a car to get here, but it’s worth the trip. The service and rooms are great, and everything feels cozy. There’s an amazing coffee machine in the room, and breakfast was so good we looked forward to it each morning. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away, mostly private, and the hotel’s own section with guest chairs is very well maintained. Nearby restaurants are fantastic for lunch and dinner. I’d definitely come back.

Sebastian was absolutely amazing, and the food was marvelous. I missed the French toast, but the scrambled eggs were phenomenal. Even before arriving, I’d fallen for the place because communication throughout booking was so pleasant. We were greeted with complimentary wine and a nice tour of the beautiful property, tucked into the jungle, where you can hear all the animal sounds. The beach is just a 5-minute walk away.
