Santa Juana Lodge & Nature Reserve

We stayed in the deluxe casitas on both visits and saw loads of animals from the windows and around the property. There’s no AC, but the cabins are designed to stay cool and have fans. This was our second time at Santa Juana lodge. Jacob and I first came in 2023 and loved it enough to return this year with my parents. The lodge sits right in the pueblo, surrounded by nature, and the whole place feels magical. Alan made us feel at home each time, showed us around, and took us on a birding tour. Jacob and I love being here, and we’re wishing the Santa Juana family all the best!

We only booked two nights and immediately wished we could have stayed a week. Mornings meant coffee in bed with birds all around us, and the view from the room was incredible. Alan and his family made the place feel almost like staying in their own home. The food was delicious and so filling that we skipped lunch each day. We also walked to the beautiful waterfall on the property. It’s about 2 km and took us roughly 30 minutes, an easy enough walk though steep. My wife had a massage one evening and really enjoyed it. The road in calls for good ground clearance, and a 4WD is better.

We spent a week here and loved the beautiful setting, the friendly service, and the delicious homemade meals. The owners were always helpful and accommodating. If you’re looking to get away from the city and be somewhere with very few people around, this is a great fit. We’ll definitely come back. Thank you Ariel, Alan, Julia, and all the other workers for making our stay so special.

The staff are a big part of what makes this place so special. They’re sincere, warm, and seem genuinely happy to help with anything. Alan and Ariel, your kindness and optimism made us feel at home and made the trip unforgettable. Saying goodbye here was especially hard. The rooms were clean and very nice, with an incredible view for the massage we booked in our room. We really enjoyed it. There’s plenty of parking, plus an amazing garden with waterfalls. It’s high up in the mountains, so bring some snacks and sodas. You’ll definitely need a 4x4 to reach this beautiful spot, and it makes the drive on the amazing road much more comfortable. A magical place, and one I’d absolutely recommend.
