Hotel Boutique Lagarta Lodge

The setting at Lagarta Lodge, Nosara, was a highlight for me: up on a ridge, with sweeping Pacific views over the Nosara River mouth and the surrounding jungle reserve. The infinity pools and open-air restaurant made the most of the panorama. The road up is rough, but I felt the views were worth it. I also appreciated the calm atmosphere and the lodge’s commitment to sustainable, welcoming service. General Manager Alonso Bermudez and his well-trained crew made the hospitality feel seamless. Everyone was friendly and helpful, with a real sense that nothing was too much trouble. The open-air restaurant added to the stay too. The food was outstanding, and the fish was so fresh. Lagarta Lodge is a relaxing retreat, and the attentive crew led by Alonso Bermudez made it a memorable experience.

My Aunt and I came for her birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it special. The views were incredible and the rooms were great, with only a short walk to the beach. We got a flat tire while trying to find the place, but the staff helped sort it out and get it replaced. Bring a flashlight if you use their beach path, you’ll need it after dark.

The views from up there are breathtaking, and the pools were incredible. We loved the food and how friendly and helpful everyone was. Getting there means taking a bumpy road uphill, but that seems part of the deal for a spot with views like these. Lagarta went beyond what I expected, and I’ll definitely return.

The setting is gorgeous, and the day pass worked out well. I had great service from both the restaurant and spa teams, and the front desk and spa staff really went out of their way to make the visit enjoyable. I was disappointed that the jacuzzi was warm instead of hot as advertised. I was also charged $5 each for two glasses of sparkling water. I hadn't expected a charge for water by the glass, and would have preferred a bottle or a heads-up.
