Dunama Ocean View Hotel

There were only three cheap hangers in the closet, and they refused to give us more. Each king-size bed came with three pillows, and that was all we could get. They charged extra for toast or poached eggs, as if we were asking for something extravagant or more than our portion. Three locals staying here invited about ten more locals and their kids, who loudly took over the only pool. I won't stay here again.

We got better value for the price than we expected during our three-night stay. The elevation was just right for amazing views of nearby beaches, and the construction was unique and appealing. We came during a management change, so some signs were missing and some remodeling was happening, but it was still a great spot.

The view here is amazing, probably one of the best in the area, but there were more downsides than upsides for us. I managed a hotel for ten years, and the poor management left me very disappointed. The hotel felt like it was falling apart, the pool was always dirty, and breakfast was pretty bad. Lunch and dinner cost even more than at the Flamingo Marina. We arrived Sunday afternoon to very loud music and a big group. The front desk worker had to yell during check-in, and said the group was only there for the day, but they wouldn't turn down the volume while we checked in. The room was dirty, had no towels or soap, no bedside tables or even a chair, and smelled off. Also, don't look for the Casino, it doesn't exist. It closed several years ago, but they still advertise it. I won't recommend this place or return.

The view is absolutely spectacular, and the restaurant food is very good. We came for the day and had a really good time. Luca was the Superman of the employees, doing a bit of everything and making sure we enjoyed ourselves. It's a beautiful little hotel with privacy, great service, and spectacular views. It's clean and cozy, and the staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Just know what you're paying for: this isn't the Ritz Carlton, so if you're expecting super high-end luxury, you'll be disappointed. We'll be back.
