Villas Sol Beach Resort

The room was clean, but the bed was a bit uncomfortable and the room wasn't soundproof. We also found the shuttle somewhat unreliable. We had meals included, served buffet-style with a great selection. The view and sunsets were incredible, and the location and service were amazing, especially Tamara, who was always smiling and nice to us. We enjoyed the week. It's not a big resort, so whether it suits you depends on what you're looking for.

The views were wonderful, and the front desk and gate attendants were good. The room was average, though the cleaning service was great. The shuttle was necessary and reliable most of the time, since the resort isn't walkable. The restaurant fell far below expectations: average food and, in my opinion, poor customer service.

The main downside was the food. The restaurant looks nice and has buffet meals, but the food wasn't very good and came at resort prices. I'd suggest eating off site. We stayed in a huge, well-appointed villa with an outstanding balcony view, and the property has commanding views of the beach. Service was excellent. The hills are extremely steep, so you'll need the free shuttle, which runs from early morning until 10 pm about every 10-15 minutes. It's kind of a fun ride.

The staff were excellent and so friendly, and everything was clean and well maintained. We felt very safe during our first trip to Costa Rica, and staying at Villas Sol was amazing. The property is built into a hillside, so the roads and stairs are steep, but shuttles run around the grounds to make getting everywhere, including the beach, easy. We never waited more than 10 minutes. The food was very good too.
