Michael checked us in and was really personable, with good restaurant and activity tips. Mention his name at some places and you can get a discount. Hola India across the street was excellent, and we got 15% off. The complimentary breakfast was nice too, with rice and beans, scrambled eggs, plantains, and fresh pineapple. I wish we'd tried the mangrove boat night tour, and I also wish I'd booked the in-room morning massage, just $30 for 60 minutes. The setting was lovely, with a patio and beautiful view. We saw an agouti right outside our room, lots of lizards, and macaws flying overhead. Our room was cute, had much-needed air conditioning, and opened onto a covered porch with a hammock. It's a safe, convenient location near food and activities, but the lack of sidewalks makes the area difficult for pedestrians. Our room was down two flights of stairs, which could be hard with luggage or mobility issues. The bathroom kept this from being a five-star stay. The toilet clogged even without toilet paper, and the shower was just a trickle, with a choice between cold and scalding water. Otherwise, we thought the place was great.

The sea views were amazing, and breakfast tasted good every morning. A free park tour was a nice extra. We also saw sloths and monkeys right on the property.

Michael, the owner/manager, was awesome, friendly, and ready to help whenever we needed him. The garden is full of flowers and plants, and restaurants and markets are all within walking distance. Breakfast in the ocean-view garden was mesmerizing, especially with a macaw flying right over our heads. In the mornings and during the day, white face monkeys and TT monkeys would come by the living room. What more could you ask for? We'll be back.

Manuel Antonio has a perfect central spot here, and the staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for food and activities. Michiel, who I presume is the owner, warned me about ways visitors could get ripped off and explained what to avoid. I took his advice, and my wallet was glad I did. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in Manuel Antonio.

The included breakfast was great. I was impressed by the room and the hotel's charm, with its rustic architecture well preserved. The upper rooms are spacious and have a large terrace right beside them.
