Pachira Lodge

The best part was waking up to the rainforest coming alive all around us. Pachira Lodge sits on the riverbank in the rainforest, and the staff were ready to help from the moment we stepped off the boat. We loved the gardens and the beautiful plants and trees, with exotic plants, birds, and wildlife easy to see while relaxing by the heated pool or wandering around. The rainy boat trip along the river was amazing and worth the early start. Ray, our guide, was passionate and inspiring, and his knowledge helped us spot so many birds, insects, and animals in their natural habitat. It exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I'll really miss those rainforest mornings.

We were a group of 11 and everything went really well. The food, buildings, location, pool, and jacuzzi were all great. The trip to Tortuguero included stops to learn about Costa Rica, then a boat ride, a visit to the small town, and a ride through the canals. We saw lots of animals, and the knowledgeable people made the whole experience unforgettable.

There's lots of wildlife and boat tours, and we even had sloths right outside the room. The resort is in the jungle, reached by a 90 minute boat ride from the end of the road, which is quite a way to begin your stay. The buffet meals were excellent. If you're going in the rainy season, bring the best rain gear you can afford!

Even on the first day there were lots of animals right around the lodge, and the trail is great. The rooms are decent, though the doors close quickly, so I have to remember not to slam them. I'm glad I came prepared for the rain because we're getting a lot of it. I love rain, so that's fine, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the stay. It already feels like it might be too short.
