If you're hoping to meet people, this isn't the place. There's no evening community hangout, nowhere to lounge, no bar, and nowhere to buy a snack. I found it on HostelWorld and expected a hostel, but it's really a small hotel. The front looks nice, though the rooms are bare minimum, and the photos are a bit misleading. It feels about $30 USD overpriced to me. It was very quiet and safe, which helped with sleep, though the train starts up at 6AM. There was no hot water, and the pillow was just lumpy stuff in a pillowcase, but that happens in Costa Rica. Breakfast was wonderful. Probably a great fit for a family!

A good place to rest and recharge while taking care of things in the city. The rooms are simple but comfortable, the shower is warm, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is straightforward and satisfying, with coffee included. There are dozens of local restaurants and bars within walking distance, and downtown sights and shopping are easy to reach.

The location and feel of the place were lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent too. I stayed in Claus, and the room was a little cramped, with a basic thin mattress and no headboard. Franklin the cat was the best part of the hotel!

The included breakfast was delicious, and the staff were amazing, especially Danny. Great location, lovely rooms, hot showers, and comfortable beds. The train is nearby and honks a lot, but not at night.

The downsides are that things seem to be falling apart, the floors squeak, and one bed felt so low I was almost on the floor. On the good side, the young employees speak English fluently, the neighborhood feels safe, the shower has hot water, and there's a tiny free parking area.
