Hotel Otoya 1907 Downtown

We could hear everything through the vent that opened onto the hallway, and there wasn’t a window. The bedsheets were really dirty, the towels had blood stains, and there was mold all over the bathroom. The shower electrocuted me. A terrible hotel experience, I really don’t recommend it.

We tried to head out for food around 8pm and were told the gate wouldn’t open until 7am, so we were locked in without warning. The cafe, which is listed as closing at 9pm, had already shut early. The room itself was very basic, in an incredibly sketchy neighborhood, and the service was terrible. There was no hot water in the shower, and when the remote stopped working, they refused to replace its batteries. I definitely won’t be back.

The cafe is extremely cute, so I’d suggest going there and sleeping somewhere else. My room was so dirty that I left, and I didn’t get my money back. It cost around $50, which isn’t super cheap, even if I know it’s not expensive. I’d asked through booking in advance about a late checkout, but my messages never got a reply. When I asked the owner in person, he said it wasn’t possible because of cleaning, even though I would’ve been the only guest. But one pillow sheet definitely wasn’t fresh, the floor was extremely dirty, and I found hair in the bathroom, so cleaning didn’t seem like a convincing reason. It was also super noisy.

It’s a small hotel in a fairly central spot, with free, reasonably fast Wi-Fi and coffee next door. The rooms are small, and the walls are tiny, so you hear everything, including passing cars. There’s a ceiling fan and a TV. The shower was warm, though more on the cool side. You’re behind three locked doors, so it feels relatively safe.
