You’ll definitely need a car out here, it’s remote. We arrived late and there wasn’t even a bottle of water. The kitchen was very basic, and the dusty area that may once have been a restaurant looked unused. The gardens were kept up and the pool was clean and nice, but some of the wooden paths felt unsafe. I kept tripping on the one by the pool. Juan was kind enough to give me a lift on his motorcycle to the local shop for water and food on our first day, which really helped. There were lots of monkeys around, plus a lovely dog and cat who I think the owners neglect. Nosara is a 20-minute drive away, and I’d strongly recommend a 4x4.

Be careful with this hotel. We booked one night a week ago and found it apparently abandoned, though it still appears on Booking and Expedia. There was no staff, the restaurant wasn’t operating, and the pools didn’t work. The rooms were in terrible condition, with lots of holes in the walls and doors. The owner never showed up. Juan was the only person there to receive us, apparently a local being paid to try to get some money from this abandoned place for the owner. You can only pay cash, which seemed to us like another sign that nobody is managing the hotel. Don’t trust the pictures on Booking or Expedia, they don’t look like what we saw there.

We spent a few months in Punta India. It’s a quiet, beautiful, peaceful place, with wonderful energy and atmosphere. The pool is amazing, and so is the nature all around.

My husband and I booked a two-night stay two months ahead. When we got there to check in, they told us our reservation had been canceled and there was no room for us. We’re from abroad, and our phones didn’t work without Wi-Fi. We asked to use theirs to find somewhere else or figure out why they’d canceled, but they turned us away. Eventually we found Wi-Fi at a restaurant and saw that they had emailed us at 11:00 that morning. We’d been driving for six hours without cell service, so we never saw it. We spent the rest of the day searching for another hotel, until nearly 10 p.m., and almost had to sleep in our car. If I could give less than one star, I absolutely would. The worst place in Costa Rica.

The management was completely disorganized. I reserved a room a month ahead, arrived at 4:00 to check in, and was told no. They’d given my room to someone else. They said they’d messaged me at noon while we were driving there. We asked to use the internet and they refused. After that, we drove around from place to place, finding everything booked, and didn’t find somewhere to stay until 10:00 p.m. If you don’t know this area, trust me, you don’t want to be driving these roads at night. Don’t go here. The worst experience ever.
