Apartotel Tairona

Breakfast was surprisingly filling, with a full Costa Rican option that we really enjoyed. The staff were very helpful, and after I called a week ahead they reserved one of the limited parking spots for us. Inside, the recently renovated building felt clean and welcoming, and it had everything we needed, including a small fridge and kitchenette. We booked Apartotel Tairona at the last minute in late September 2025 and felt the price was hard to beat. The location right off the circunvalacion was convenient, though the busy road brought a lot of noise. Since the concrete building stays cool, we didn't feel AC was needed, but the windows had to stay open and let the sound in. Earplugs would probably make it manageable. The strongest issue in our room was a chlorine smell, which eventually cleared with the windows open. For the most part, we had a great stay and no other real problems.

The rooms have useful appliances, and reception was reasonably friendly. Breakfast was good and organized, with nice coffee. The place was really clean, and the hot water was great. Beds were decent, though the largest ones are only doubles and felt quite small. There was no AC, and for three people in a room we had to ask for just one roll of toilet paper. No bus parking either, though I understand that. I'd come back.

For about $75 USD a night in January, this was a convenient and very good place to stay. It’s close to the mall and Peppers Discotech for shows. Thanks.

We found this to be a new favorite for our San Jose trips. The room (209) was spacious, spotless, well equipped, and had very comfortable beds. Breakfast tasted good and had something for everyone. The location worked well for San Pedro Mall and Barrio Escalante, and Uber pickups were quick. Service was friendly, professional, and responsive.
