Casa Kibi Kibi

We stayed at Kibi Kibi in February 2025 and would happily return. It was clean, well placed for our Costa Rica itinerary, and the owner was friendly and quick to respond. He speaks fluent English, which helped since we speak very little Spanish. We liked relaxing in the inner courtyard, and the beds were comfortable. The shared kitchen had appliances, cups, and refrigerator space. The shower had hot water and good pressure, and the Wi-Fi worked well. We walked to restaurants, a bakery, a grocery store, and other local businesses. Kibi Kibi also offered an airport shuttle and a paid washer and dryer, with laundry soap included. The Mepe bus station for the coast was a 15-minute Uber ride away, and a local bus stop was a four-minute walk. Downtown, including the museums and National Theatre, was about 20 minutes by Uber. The owner was easy to reach on WhatsApp if you don't have phone service.

The host, Shirani, was the best part for me, a kind, smart fellow with a charming story. The garden was wonderful for yoga, and the rooms had all the amenities I wanted. I loved the big kitchens and lounge, plus the handy supermarket across the street. This was easily my favorite place of the whole Costa Rica trip.

A lovely garden and a friendly owner make Casa Kibi Kibi a good choice if you're looking for an international home in the San Pedro area. The guesthouse is small, and the atmosphere is good most of the time. Many guests stay for weeks or months. Rooms get cleaned weekly, the beds are comfortable, and there are two kitchens and shared spaces. It's also very close to a supermarket and a bus station.

From late December 2021 until March 4, 2022, Casa Kibi Kibi felt like my oasis in paradise and a home away from home. I met people from many countries during my stay, and Shirani, the owner, host, and resident, quickly became both an extraordinary manager and a new friend. He kept the rooms clean, comfortable, repaired, and stocked, and even added another Wi-Fi router for the guests. While I was there, he also brought in larger flat-screen TVs and new refrigerators. The house, as Shirani calls it, has two living areas with soft furniture, dining tables, a bookcase full of good books, and even board games. Both kitchens had what I needed to make anything from a quick snack to a full meal. The central garden was the jewel of the place, with exotic flowers, shrubs, and hairy banana trees that fascinated me. I even lost 35 pounds from walking every day downtown and on the streets nearby. I'll keep coming back to live the Pura Vida.
