Cabañas La Montaña

The people running the cabins were helpful, quick to respond, and came to deal with the remaining spiders after I asked. They fumigated the cabin and gave me a bed canopy. I didn't see any live spiders after that, just a few dead ones. Still, a warning: I've stayed at more than 20 ecolodges around the world and expect bugs, but I'd never seen indoor ones this huge. A bathroom window had been left open before I checked in, and giant spiders were inside, including one about the size of my hand. The cabins are private and spaced apart, with reliable wifi, plenty of hot water, and the cloud forest is beautiful. Water pressure was a little low but fine. The beds are extra firm, and I could feel the metal springs. There was also daytime construction noise next door, though it looked nearly finished. You can technically walk uphill to town in about 25 minutes, but a car is better. It's a very rustic stay in a lovely secluded setting.

The treehouse was marvelous, with windows all around, greenery outside, and a lovely hammock for relaxing. Just note that the hotel isn't walking distance from the town centre. If you have a car, the short drive is well worth it. Cozy and sweet!

Tracy gave us helpful recommendations for things to do nearby, including a spot to watch the sunset. Our cabin was super clean, and I loved the little reading nook by the windows. Breakfast was delicious too. My partner, who is Canadian, said the pancakes were the best he'd ever had, which is high praise from him.

We had a quiet cabin with our own private space, tucked in the forest but only a three-minute drive from the main restaurants. The family running the place welcomed us and looked after us so well. While relaxing indoors, we spotted butterflies, birds, and wild animals. Lovely stay, and we'll definitely return.
