The kitchen is huge, with room for everyone to cook, and the common room has sofas and a balcony facing the sunset. The volunteers knew a lot about things to do around Santa Elena and Monteverde, and helped us book all the tours and shuttles we wanted. There are hostels a little closer to Santa Elena's center, but we didn't mind walking and got to explore more. We arrived well before check-in expecting to leave our bags, but our room was already ready and they let us go in. The hostel was clean and welcoming.

Staff were really nice, and there's a pleasant common area. I think it's a great option for backpackers, with yoga classes and breakfast. We didn't enjoy our double room as much, though. It was quite dark and damp, and maybe had a moldy smell, so it wasn't comfortable for spending much time in if comfort matters to you. The photos looked quite different from what we found.

The balcony had good views, parking was available at the property, and breakfast included tasty pancakes with fruit and coffee. The kitchen was decent, and the staff were super friendly. They even let us leave our stuff and cook after checkout. We booked a six-bed dorm but ended up in an eight-bed room, something I only noticed afterward. The room nearest the kitchen wasn't great: the beds weren't very comfortable, and there was no privacy, lighting, or charging plugs. I was unlucky enough to have the loudest snorer below me. For a one-night stay, it was okay.

We left early because the dorm smelled bad from the toilet all night. I think the pipes need cleaning. The room also got really cold at night. Staff were lovely, and breakfast was okay, with some fruit and pancakes. The kitchen and its equipment are very old and falling apart. Some cooking hobs don't work, and one has broken glass. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

There was a well-trained border collie when I visited. It played with me and knew how to sit and give its paw. The hostel has a great view and spacious common areas. I enjoyed my stay, and found it a decent place overall.
