Peace Lodge

The rooms were spacious, beautiful, and spotless, with two fireplaces. We loved Peace Lodge and highly recommend it. The pools had hot, warm, and cold water, and swimming there was a real treat. The property and its views are gorgeous, and the welcome drinks were amazing. It was lovely to be greeted so warmly by the staff. The location was convenient too, just an hour from the airport. The hiking trails were incredible, though challenging, and well worth it. The waterfalls were just as impressive. Breakfast was really good, although the omelette we got wasn't fully cooked. The kind servers remade it for us.

Rusty, the hotel dog, was a big highlight for me. He's so sweet, and we fell in love with that little face. We'd definitely stay again, though two nights would probably be enough. The hotel service was excellent, and the team seemed proud of the property and Costa Rica. They made an effort to remember our names and orders. We spent three nights here in February. The mountain view from the peaceful hot tub and pool area was lovely, and having the waterfalls and park feel like our backyard made the stay feel special. It was also nice to visit the waterfalls before or after the tour buses. There are lots of steps, so bring comfortable shoes for getting around the resort and to the waterfalls. The resort is beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and clouds that drift in and out all day. Our colorful, spacious room had creative waterfall features and stonework, plus a balcony hot tub. We didn't think we'd need the fireplace, but used it at night. The restaurants had a good range, from simple to more elaborate dishes, and everything we tried was very good. I especially liked the different fresh trout preparations from the lake on the property. The animal sanctuary has rescued exotic and native animals. It was nice to hear their stories and how they came to be there. Many were rescued from trafficking, and some were donated pets. Check out the big cat feedings in the afternoon.

We only wish we'd had longer here. The staff, grounds, room, wildlife, and food were all top notch. Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly, and they made us feel like honored guests, with attention to detail and luxury that felt unmatched. The sanctuary was a sight to behold, and the food was excellent. This was hands down the most beautiful and wonderful place we've ever visited. A truly remarkable experience, and I can't wait to return! ¡Pura Vida!

We loved watching the clouds roll over Poas from the lanai hot tub and hammock. The hiking trails were enjoyable, as was seeing the rescued animals in their enclosures. The night frog walk was absolutely worth it. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were top notch. The rooms were spectacular, with phenomenal views, and we especially loved the fireplace. A space heater and umbrellas were available, though we didn't need them. Service was professional, polite, helpful, and quick to answer our questions. Everything was absolutely beautiful. The only downside was the number of stairs. Our legs hurt, but I guess that's part of being up in the mountains!
