The cabins are lovely, with stunning views and birds all around in the natural setting. The owners were kind and attentive, and did their best to make our visit feel special. This place really earns its name, with lots of hummingbirds around the property. We came planning to visit Rancho Naturalista, but ended up taking a birding tour with Jose, the owner, for just $25 a couple. He showed us sunbitterns, snowcaps, thorntails, aracaris, toucans, oropendolas, antshrikes, lots of tanagers and thrushes, and even a magical spot with sunbittern chicks. We saw everything we hoped to, and I think it was much better value with Jose. They also catered for us as vegetarians. We'd definitely recommend staying here. Thanks for having us!

I only wish we'd rented a car so we could go out and explore, but that was our mistake. I stayed here with my husband over Easter break, and Jose was great at spotting birds and knew a lot about them. He made sure we were comfortable, and the food was great too. If you're into birds and photographing them, I recommend this place.

José and his wife went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable and memorable. The food was excellent, and José was always keen to help with suggestions or whatever assistance I needed. He knows an incredible amount about birds and the local area, which helped me see several beautiful species, many of them for the first time. It's a great base for wildlife right nearby and for exploring local spots. I can't recommend it highly enough.

We had a great visit in April 2024. The rooms were clean and roomy, with plenty of birds in the garden. The owners were extremely helpful, and the food was delicious. Recommended!

Jose has planted over 400 plants to draw hummingbirds in, and this place feels magical for seeing them. He'll also help you track down target birds. We saw the snowcap, black-crested coquette, garden emerald, green thorntail, green breasted mango, and brown violeteer.
