It’s a good place.

My room was in terrible shape and didn’t even have a shower. I had to put a water bottle over the shower pipe just to bathe. The breakfast is best left unmentioned.

Honestly, the restaurant service was fine, but that pizza was another story. When it arrived, I couldn’t even tell whether it had cheese. The menu also doesn’t match what they actually serve. They need to work on the pizzas; I’d never pay 430 pesos for one like that again. Blessings.

The bartender makes great piña coladas and daiquiris, and you can see old locomotives near the station. The hotel is right opposite the train station, with an old-fashioned feel. All the rooms are upstairs, there’s no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep, though porters are available. The rooms are comfortable and have double beds, but the bathroom plumbing is outdated. I couldn’t brush my teeth because the water was yellowish. Our first night was rough because we shared the room with a family of mosquitoes. The second night was much better after they left us alone. The dining room is on the ground floor. Breakfast is served on a plate with toast, brioche, meatballs, butter, and ketchup. Wi-Fi costs 25 pesos per hour. For an evening tour of the nearby squares, order a tuk-tuk about 50 meters from the hotel. It’s a different way to see the city, its monuments, and curious statues, for €5 per person.

We came from Mexico for the carnival and felt at home right away. Everyone on staff looked after us so warmly, and the whole stay was excellent.
