Dos Pelotas, a great local restaurant, is just down the street, and Havana Vieja is easy to explore on foot from here. We stayed eight days and found the rooms comfortable, in a safe neighborhood, with an in-room safe. The mini fridge was stocked with bottled water, soda, beer, and wine. Staff were friendly, always around, and spoke English, French, and Spanish. I'd definitely come back.

Elsa and Julio were around much of the time and helped us arrange taxis and book a tour. We even saved money using their services, surprisingly. The staff were friendly, efficient, and available around the clock if we needed anything, and we were treated like family. We stayed in a private apartment that felt like a home, with the comforts we needed, including an outlet adapted for American appliances. It was spotless and nicely decorated, as were the common areas. The neighboring apartment where breakfast was served had high ceilings, vintage moulding, and decor that felt true to cosmopolitan apartments of the 1940s and 50s. We paid an extra $5 a day for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised: sausage, eggs, fresh fruit, bread, pastries, yogurt, guava juice, and great coffee, served at a cozy table in that common area. Our apartment had air conditioning and hot water, plus beer, wine, and soda in the fridge for a modest charge per item. The location worked perfectly for us, and we walked almost everywhere, including to the Capitol Building, La Bodeguita, the Malecon, and Plaza de Armas. The welcome was warm, the price was right, and the accommodations were fantastic. We'd absolutely return to Havana and stay here again.

Everyone in Cuba seems so warm, welcoming, and eager to help, probably in 97% of places. Elsa and Julio were the best of the best. Our last dinner at Hostal Peregrino was a few years ago.

The location made it easy to get to both the Malecon and Habana Vieja. Staff were organized and very helpful, and breakfast was tasty and brought with a smile. A great place for a few days, recommended!

We plan to come back. It was close enough to walk into the city, with restaurants and museums nearby. The owners and staff were so helpful, breakfast was tasty, and the guides were great if you need one. There's absolutely nothing not to like.
