Islazul Colina

I've never stayed anywhere worse. The bathrooms smelled of urine, and there was no water in any of the three rooms we tried. The toilet wouldn't flush, so at 10 pm I had to walk to another hotel, eat something there just to use its bathroom, and then leave. The employees were chain-smoking and seemed not to care about the guests at all. Now I understand why Cuba is the way it is.

Right by the university, so the location is central, and breakfast was a good spread. Get the croquettes. The staff are really friendly. Rooms look a bit dated, but they're clean and have A/C. A good budget option for travelers.

Gentlemen Galas Hotel, I stayed at Hotel Vedado on August 3, then at Hotel Colina from August 4 to 6 in Havana City Cuba. At Hotel Colina, room 407's magnetic key failed several times, and I had to complain repeatedly about the lack of water. Other guests said they had to fill the garbage basket with a glass of water to bathe. Hotel Vedado was in very poor shape too: no light in the room, dirty towels in bad condition, and broken windows. In the end, both hotels fall far short of their prices in terms of condition and service. I'm writing so you know what state they're in, and I hope to hear back promptly.

It doesn't seem possible to book a room here, and the website appears to lead to an online casino. Unless I'm mistaken, this former hotel has been closed for at least four years. It's very odd to see so many recent five-star reviews. Who's leaving them?
